● UHMWPE UD is based on UHMWPE fibers and impregnated or laminated with various matrix systems. The UHMWPE filaments are configurated parallel with uniform tension. The UD are laid orthogonally by 0/90 and compressed to form bullet proof material. Alternating unidirectional layered UHMWPE constructions stop bullets much more effectively than woven fabrics. In the UD construction, a larger part of the filaments is involved in the absorption of energy. The UD construction and the high modulus of the fiber results in less back face deformation by which the body trauma is reduced.
